Transforming schools, inspiring learning - An introduction to Building Schools for the Future

The biggest single investment in school buildings for the past 50 years is underway – and Hertfordshire is taking steps to ensure that, through this opportunity, we lead our schools and education system confidently into the 21st Century.

As one of England’s largest local authorities, Hertfordshire will benefit from the initial project funding and several tranches of follow-on project funding, which will total well in excess of £1bn. We intend to use this time to transform education by building an estate of inspirational buildings where learners and communities can benefit from attractive, flexible and exciting learning environments that can be sustained well into the future.

We also believe that transforming schools requires a coherent approach covering both primary and secondary schools, and associated community facilities. We expect our Local Education Partnership (LEP) to have a broad enough remit to take a leading role in all of these areas and to be ambitious in its approach to wider opportunities within the county.

Our approach to the procurement process is that partnership starts now and we look forward to developing and shaping our relationships as the dialogue progresses.
